The new Infiniti Q50 is scheduled to be released in the UK this autumn. The beauty of its exterior design, coupled with a premium-quality interior and highly efficient diesel or hybrid engines, indicate that it will compare favourably with any other vehicle in the compact executive class.

Its sleek, low frame, combined with twin exhausts and Infiniti’s characteristic “double arch” grille, give the Q50 graceful looks. The craftsmanship of the interior is outstanding for both front and rear passengers, helped by the largest wheelbase in this segment. Drivers are favoured with an array of equipment designed to increase convenience and comfort, such as the dual-touchscreen InTouch™ communications system. A variety of impressively advanced active safety measures, such as Active Lane Control and Direct Adaptive Steering, makes it easy to remain in control of the vehicle at all times.

Buyers will have a choice between a 2.2 litre diesel engine or a 3.5 litre hybrid unit, both linked to a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic transmission. The latter’s CO2 output figures – 115g/km for the diesel, under 145g/km for the hybrid – will come as good news for prospective business users, who will be pleased by the car’s low running costs and tax efficiencies. The hybrid in particular also offers sublime performance, achieving 0-62mph acceleration in a mere 5.5 seconds.

With autumn also seeing the release of Infiniti’s all-electric car, the next few months should be exciting ones for drivers looking for a premium-quality vehicle with minimal running costs. As fuel efficiency is something that drivers take into real consideration when purchasing a new car, Infiniti cars seem to be pushing their Hybrid range this year.
