The Volkswagen Italdesign Tex and Go! are two concepts sharing the same chassy but different propulsion systems, they uses the new architecture known as MQB Volkswagen (Quer-Modularer Baukasten), designed for vehicles with front-wheel drive, transverse engine and can accommodate either an electrical plug-in , a hybrid system, a heat engine petrol, diesel, LPG or methane, and even a hydrogen engine. It ‘s the first time that Italdesign Giugiaro customizes cars by new Volkswagen Group since May 2010.
ITALDESIGN Go!: This prototype measures as compact MPV, length is 3.99 meters and wheelbase is 2.70, these sizes will comfortably accommodate five passengers and to stow in the trunk for 400 or 525 liters. Glasses configuration allows the drive a good visibility, while interior stands by the instruments position and incorporated into the base of the windshield (solution decided by Giugiaro) and close to monitors projecting images of the back cameras. Batteries by 33.1 kWh are below chassy, matching the front and rear seats and powering two electric motors of 85 kW and 260 Nm providing a range of 240 km. Suspensions are McPherson at front and torsion beam to back.
ITALDESIGN Tex: even this concept car is 3.99 meters long and named in honor of the comics hero. The Volkswagen Tex Italdesign is a plug-in hybrid four-seater high only 1.35 meters wide and 1.75 with 19-inch wheels. The V on the bonnet recalls the Alfa Romeo, side air intakes obtained from body cavities. Instruments are almost made of LCD screens designed to wrap around the driver, as is obligatory on a sports car. Here rear suspensions are multilink. The battery is 8.5 kWh while the 7-speed DSG gearbox performance is really great: 0-100 km/h in 6 seconds and 220 km/h top speed, plus 35 km of range in fully electric mode. A plug-in hybrid system features the propulsion which consists of a 1.4-liter turbo gasoline engine with 150 hp and an electric motor with peak power of 85 kW, both combined develops 177 hp and torque of 400 Nm.
