The Leaf RC Nismo is the racing version based on the Nissan Leaf, unveiled at the New York Motor Show (April 21-May 1), while began the world deliveries of the well-known production version. The racing car has been produced by the sports department of the Japanese brand which gave the initials Nismo – stands for Nissan Motorsports – to keep high the competitiveness in championships tracks like the Super GT and FIA GT1.

Nissan Nismo RC Leaf is designed with three parts of carbon fiber monocoque. Comparing the Nismo to the production Leaf we have a downsizing for wheelbase (-9.9 cm) and height (-35 cm), but the racer model is 2 cm longer overall and 17  wider than the production hatch.
The Leaf racer engine develops 110 hp and 281 Nm, enough to push at the speed of 150 km/h and get one 100Km/h from a standing start in 6.85 seconds. The battery life is enough, according to Nissan, for 20 minutes in race conditions. Compared to the Leaf production the drive is now rear to release its power on the 225/40 R18 Bridgestone tires with 18-inch alloy wheels. Leaf RC Nissan Nismo will be used in major of 2011 competitions and at events like the auto show in New York held in these days.
