Renault has released official photos of its latest concept, the Captur, the second concept (after the 2-seater coupe DeZir of 2009) that illustrates Renault’s strategy and design. The French prototype represents a possible new model to compete with smaller SUVs and crossovers like the Nissan Juke.

DETAILS
: Captur Renault concept, which will be shown in world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show (3-13 March), is 4.22 meters long, 1.95 wide, 1.58 high and has a wheelbase of 2.62 meters. Attractive and natural design, with no corners or lines, incorporates the new identity of the front view of DeZir, structured around the larger lozenge, while the massive fenders emphasize its strength. A multipurpose vehicle, capable of changing its nature thanks to the carbon structure, from coupe to convertible, from city car to SUV. The interior, however, is quite essential, with a horizontal dashboard and controls grouped on the central tunnel. One special feature is the rear area where there are three levels of elastic cords: they can act as a load floor, or leave room for two seats with integrated back in the sides. The sportiness is highlighted by the gull-wing doors and 22-inch wide tires.

ENGINE: under the Captur’s hood there’s a all-new engine Twin Turbo 1.6-liter diesel, which develops 160 hp and 380 Nm, combined to the automatic Efficient Dual Clutch. According to the brand, the Capture can reach 210 km/h top speed and 100 km /h from a standstill in just 8 seconds. Reported emissions are just 99 g /km of CO2.
